Peek-a-boo!

Day 086. | South Eastern Ohio Family Photographer

Sunday, October 25, 2009.

I had a photo shoot this afternoon with a super cute pair. Mommy Karen, daughter Natalie and I had a great time. They're super cute and totally adorable! See for yourself...

View more photos from this session on my Facebook Fan page.

My husband and I also carved our pumpkins! It was my first time and let me just say, my hands didn't like me too much the next day but I got an adorable pumpkin and some seeds out of it all! Totally worth it if you ask me.

And here they are lit up!

Day 083.

Thursday, October 22, 2009.

So, usually when I wait last minute to get my camera out, I end up taking a photo of our dinner and sharing the recipe with all my followers. Well, that's what I did today 'cept when I asked Kevin to grab my camera, neither of us realized that the card wasn't in it... So, I DID take a photograph for today but unfortunately... It's gone!
Our dinner was a yummy Beef Taco Skillet.
I'll share the recipe anyway!

1 lb. ground beef
1 can (10 3/4 oz) Campbell's Tomato Soup
1/2 cup chunky salsa
1/2 cup water
6 flour tortillas (6"), cut into 1" pieces
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1. Cook beef in 10" skillet until well browned, stirring to break up meat. Pour off fat.
2. Stir in soup, salsa, water and tortillas. Heat to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cook for 5 min. Stir. Top with cheese. Makes 4 servings.

*We also topped ours off with Taco Bell's mild salsa.

It was yummy!

Day 082. | South Eastern Ohio Family Photographer

Wednesday, October 21, 2009.

I was flattered when Kate asked me to photograph her beautiful family. This is one of my favorite shots of the day. I love the "antique photo" edit and I'm a sucker for Daddy and baby shots. Braylon (the young boy) wasn't being very coopertive but he sure did give me some adorable "candid" shots <3.

Day 080- I Heart Faces "Pink Week" | South Eastern Ohio Chidren Photographer

Monday, October 19, 2009.

It's Pink week in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. This is my entry. My 4 year old niece let me take some adorable photos of her in exchange to wear pink lipstick and pink eyeshadow. (Very light pink.)
As I was helping her get dressed (she has a broken arm), she told me that she is going to be a rock star and a ballerina because she could do them both at the same time ;).
I love her.
Check out I ♥ Faces for more beautiful entries in honor of Breast Cancer. There's also a link posted on their blog if you'd like to make a donation.

Day 077.

My style | What kind of Photographer is Mic?

These photos were taken over a year ago. The first girl shown is Courtney, she was my first High School Senior client and the couple shown below her are Kellie and Zach, they were my very first clients. At this point in time, I hadn't really "given up" on photography but it was more of a hobby and I hadn't really thought of turning it into a business. I was still using Auto Mode on my Canon XSi and knew nothing about Manual or that it even existed.

I was asked by a woman on a photography forum I am a part of the following questions and was asked to blog about it. My fellow photographers have already done so, so I'm a little bit behind but here goes.

Have you found your "style"?

I can't really say I have a certain style but I do love candid photos. Most of my photo shoots may look posed but when I'm taking the photos, I don't direct them to do anything. I just let them do what they do and I mostly let them pose how they want so that their photos turn out the way they want them to. I love being able to take my camera and freeze time with a simple snap... I want my clients to feel that they can take a photo that I took and remember the exact moment that it was taken. How they felt and what that photograph was taken for.

When it comes to editing, I love my photos to be in color. Of course, every photographer loves black and whites but I am a fool for colors. Vivid, bright and beautiful.

What do you love photographing?

I used to be in love with photographing nature. Which I still love to do but as the time has passed I have fallen in love with photographing people. Couples to be specific. There's something about showing emotion through a photograph that I just love and the emotion I love to capture is true love.

What photographers do you follow, admire, look to for inspirations?

Michelle Black is a famous photographer in our town. Almost everyone has heard of her and she really is an amazing photographer. I really do look up to her. Her photographs show exactly what I want mine to show one day.

I do love everyone's work that is in the forum I am on but I especially love Heidi Roberts, Amy McMaster, Cheryle and Shannon's work. They're all amazing and capture beautiful memories.

Where do you want to be in one year as a photographer? Five years?

A year from now, I hope to be half way through my Bachelor's degree at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh's Online Division and to know twice as much, technical wise, as I do now about my camera and what it's capable of. I also hope to have the eye that I'm hoping for into making my photos show the type of emotion my clients are looking for.

In five years, I hope to be in the process of or already have opened my own personal studio. That's my real dream.

The photos below were taken during some of my most recent sessions (as are the photos below in other blog entries.) These were all taken in Manual mode which now I love and hardly ever stop using.

*All photos are SOOC (straight out of camera) so you can actually see the progress I have made over the past year.

I still have a lot to learn but I am more than willing to be patient as time goes on.

Thank you for stopping by and learning more about myself as a photographer.

Day 071. | South Eastern Ohio Family Photographer

Saturday, October 10, 2009.

The lady shown in the photo is Heidi. She and I met through our photography forum on BG. We live about an hour and a half away from eachother so we came up with an idea to do a photo swap. She took mine and Kevin's "trash the dress" photos- preview those on her blog- and I took Family photos for her. It was a fun day!

Day 070.

Friday, October 9, 2009.

Dallas went and spent the weekend with Aunt Sue and Uncle Bob and they went to a Halloween party so we dressed him up as a Mizzou Football Player :).

Day 069.

Thursday, October 8, 2009.

Day 068.

Wednesday, October 7, 2009.

It's fall and that means football. Kevin joined a Backyard Football League and created his own team. They were practicing in our yard when this was taken and seconds after I snapped, the ball was picked back up.

Day 067.

I went and got my hair colored. It's okay.

Day 066.

I'm posting more than one photo for today. These are a few "macro" shots that I got. I know the first is a little blurry but I still like it.

See the tiny little bug?

While I was taking these, my little piglet was playing with his beach ball from our wedding. He kept biting it!

This was taken right before I came in here. Dallas usually is in bed by 8pm. He was in bed by 7pm tonight because he had skipped his afternoon nap. Well, it's 10:30pm and he starts screaming! We go in there to comfort him and he wouldn't lay back down so I brought him to his daddy and they watched football together. Too cute so I had to grab my camera. I was a little jealous, mommy never gets to cuddle because he's always so playful during the day! But, I love them together.
